Hawthorne Bridge – Portland, Oregon – March 2012
This shot was taken with the Nikon L16 – f4.7, 1/250 sec, ISO-282, 17mm fl. I took this late afternoon, during a brief lull in the rain – which started again before I had finished walking across the span of the Hawthorne Bridge.
I am standing approximately mid-span on the Hawthorne, looking downstream on the Willamette River. Through the girders, you can see the Morrison Bridge, the Burnside Bridge beyond that, and the twin spires of the Oregon Convention Center in the background. I pushed the contrast to silhouette the steel work of the bridge, which brought a little blue out in the photograph… adding to the mood of the picture.
