Late afternoon sun from clearing skies give a nice sharp definition to the Pac West Tower, seen from the cover of a cherry blossom tree in neighboring Unitus Plaza, in downtown Portland, Oregon.

This shot was taken with the Nikon L16 – f4.7, 1/250 sec, ISO-248, 38mm fl. Extreme close up of the blossoms on one of the cherry trees at Unitus Plaza. I love the tissue paper-thin petals of these delicate blossoms.
For the holiday season, these trees are festooned with strings of tiny lights instead of flowers.

This shot was taken with the Nikon L16 – f3.2, 1/184 sec, ISO-400, 8mm fl. Pointing the camera upward, the brightening morning sky, though overcast, still gave a nice contrast to the tree branches. I pushed the color balance a bit to bring back some of the color the deliberate over-exposure washed out.

Another day without my trusty Nikons, I had to resort to the tiny camera in my LG Neon cell phone. The GT365 does take very nice pictures; it just doesn’t capture image information, like my Nikons do.
This close-up of the cherry blossom tree outside Jenny’s church was taken on a warm spring day, full of sun and promise.

This shot was taken with the camera on my old LG Neon cell phone. Unfortunately, it did not capture image information very well. The only post-exposure manipulation was a tight cropping to bring up detail in the cherry blossoms.
