Vancouver, Washington – Summer 2012

This shot was taken with the Nikon L16 – f5.6, 1/1,476 sec, ISO-64, 6mm fl.
I took this while waiting at a traffic light. Fortunately, there was no traffic behind me, so that I could wait at the ‘green’ and get my shot. The afternoon sun was just burning through a low cloud cover and cast a really interesting light over the landscape.
I did a very tight crop and pushed the contrast to isolate the traffic signals and create a vignette effect. Aiming the camera directly at the very bright sun closed the aperture and generated a very high shutter speed, bringing the light poles in to silhouette.

I LOVE this photo! Great job
Thank you! There was very little post-exposure manipulation involved in this shot. I pushed the contrast a little; that was all.
Right place, right time… it isn’t always about equipment and how much one thinks they know. Luck is often a photographer’s greatest tool and best friend.
